About the artist

After his study at the Carnegie Institute of Technology, he moved to New York to pursue a career in commercial illustration. In 1964, Warhol rented a studio loft on East 47th street in Midtown Manhattan which was later known as The Factory. This hub of artistic collaboration and experimentation birthed a multitude of innovative works. Warhol collaborated with Basquiat, Clemente, and Haring in the 1980s. The artist died tragically at the age of 58, on February 22, 1987 in New York, NY. Today, his works are held in the collections of the Art Institute of Chicago, Museum of Modern Art in New York, and the Tate Gallery in London, among others. Andy Warhol is a central figure in the Pop Art movement that reshaped the art world.
