He had his first solo show in 1946, in Amapá, where he lived. In 1947, he arrived in Rio de Janeiro, where he had a solo show in Uruguay. He took part in the neo-concrete movement (1957-1961). He appeared several times at the São Paulo Biennial and exhibited individually in Brazil and abroad. Between 1996 and 1997, a retrospective of the artist was staged at the Museum of Modern Art in Rio de Janeiro, a travelling exhibition that later went to the Museum of Modern Art in Salvador (BA) and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in Curitiba (PR).
