Pair of Lounge Chairs (1950)
Solid caviúna wood and fabric (original upholstery, to be replaced)
Dimensions: 72 × 63 × 66 cm
Country of origin: Brazil
This pair of lounge chairs, designed by Giuseppe Scapinelli in the 1950s, represents one of the most elegant expressions of Brazilian mid-century modern design. Crafted from solid caviúna wood, the chairs feature sculptural frames defined by gently arched armrests, organic curves, and a fluid integration of structure and silhouette.
The woodwork—refined and sinuous—echoes both Scandinavian design and Brazilian craftsmanship, while the upholstered cushions (currently with original fabric) offer comfort and subtle contrast to the warm, polished grain of the caviúna. Light in appearance yet solid in construction, the chairs maintain perfect balance between formal dynamism and domestic ease.
